I Kept Saying ‘Before I Had Kids…’ Until I Realized What I Was Missing
I kept saying that my life was so different before I had my kids.
I don't know exactly when I started doing it, but somewhere along the way, “before I had kids” became one of those phrases I said without even thinking about it.
Before I had kids, I traveled more.
Before I had kids, I could pack a bag and go whenever I wanted.
Before I had kids, I could go out to eat, make last-minute plans, try new places and just… go.
Before I had kids, I could get dressed and leave the house without packing snacks, finding shoes, looking for somebody's cup, or answering seventeen questions before we made it to the car. 😂
And sometimes, if I'm being truthful, I think I was remembering that version of my life as though she had something that the woman I am today had lost.
But lately I've been looking at it differently.
Then I started looking through my camera roll.
I came across all of different meals, travels, art shows, showcase dances, playground adventures, and baby pictures, and new memories I've made since having my kids, and it hit me…
I still enjoy good food.
I still love making things feel special.
I still love creating experiences and enjoying the little things.
I'm just doing more of it at home now, with the little humans I wanted and who love me the most. 🤍
I get to introduce them to new experiences, share good food with them and create memories with my children.
And honestly, now that I think about it…
My life didn't stop being interesting. It just changed.
Now it's filled with the tiny humans I prayed for.
I don't need to get my old life back.
I can appreciate who I was before my children while also learning to appreciate who I am and the life I'm creating with them.
And maybe this season deserves to be documented, celebrated and enjoyed just as much as the seasons that came before it.
So I'm Going to Start Sharing More of It
The food.
The beauty.
The shopping.
The little luxuries.
The adventures.
The motherhood moments.
The things I'm learning.
The places I'm going.
And through all of it, my faith and our love for God.
Because my faith isn't simply another part of my lifestyle. It's the foundation of it.
God has carried me through every version of my life. The woman I was before becoming a mother, the woman I am today and the woman I'm still becoming.
I want to share the process of creating a life that feels like mine in this season, too, while trusting God with whatever comes next.
I love good food. I love beauty. I love getting dressed. I love shopping and finding things that make everyday life feel a little more special. I still love traveling, trying new things and having new experiences.
And I love having real conversations about the things I'm learning along the way.
So maybe this next chapter isn't about trying to become the woman I was before I had kids.
Maybe it's about getting to know, appreciate and enjoy the woman I am now.
And being grateful for what God has already placed in front of me while still believing Him for what's ahead.
If you're in a season of life that looks a little different than it used to, or you just enjoy good food, beauty, little luxuries, real conversations and making everyday life feel a little more special, come along with me. I think we're going to have a good time. 🤍
